What is it?
IMPRINT is the first of its kind Ministry of Human Resource Development supported Pan-IIT + IISc joint initiative to address the major science and engineering challenges that India must address and champion to enable, empower and embolden the nation for inclusive growth and self-reliance. This novel initiative with twofold mandate is aimed at:
Developing new engineering education policy
Creating a road map to pursue engineering challenges.
Ensure higher funding support for research into these areas and measure outcomes of the research efforts with reference to the impact on the standard of living in rural/urban areas.
IMPRINT provides the overarching vision that guides research into areas that are predominantly socially relevant.
How it Works?
Under IMPRINT India Initiative, research is promoted under the following 10 domains.
Environmental Science and Technology
Information Communication and Technology
Security and Defence
Water Resources and River systems.
Central Government Partners for IMPRINT Project.
Benefits of IMPRINT India Initiative:
It will provide an opportunity for higher educational Institutions to integrate with grass root level insititutes, industry and organisations, mutually complement and “deliver what the country demands and aspires.”
It will lead to convergence of all sort of intellectual capabilities and interdisciplinary approaches in the 10 domains under IMPRINT india Initiative.
It will complement government initiatives like Make in India, Digital India, Skill India, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, Rashtriya Vikas Abhiyan and Swachh Bharat.
